Armed Indianapolis Man Defends House from Home Invaders

Indianapolis DGU

Last Friday morning was an eventful one in the Franklin Township of Indianapolis. 2 people made the error of attempting to break into the home of a law-abiding gun owner and the results certainly didn’t go their way.

This incident occurred on the night of Thursday, April 19th and continued into the morning of Friday, April 20th. It saw a pair of burglars, Keith and Kellie Durham break into the targeted Franklin Township home late on Thursday night, when there was nobody who lived there around the domicile.

Later, however, the Durhams decided to press their luck and head back to the same house for another round of theft. Not a smart plan because this time they did not find it so easy. The homeowner’s son had arrived in the space of time between the first break in and the attempted second and he wasn’t taking any chances. The son made sure that he was armed.

As Keith and Kellie Durham entered the residence again they were met by the homeowner’s son who had obviously seen what had happened to his family home once and was ready with his gun and a pair of handcuffs to make sure it wasn’t going to happen again. The son then handcuffed the pair of criminals and held them at gunpoint until he called the police and they arrived on the scene.

The officers were on the scene quickly after the call and the criminal couple was arrested for theft, burglary, and possession of a controlled substance.

Neighbors say they believe the home was targeted because a for sale sign in the front yard may have led the burglars to believe the home was unoccupied.

What do you think of this story? Would you have gone the same route as the homeowner’s son if you had to stop a threat such as this? Let us know what you think in the comment section below.
